a) Noted that Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt had returned from her trip to
the USSR and asked DD/I to check with the Department of state regarding plans
for a debriefing. The Director said he did not want to overburden Mrs.
Roosevelt and if State intends to debrief her he sew no reason why our people
could not sit in. He noted, however, there might be points on which we would
wish to follow up and if so, he would undertake the necessary arrangements.
b) Noted that Mr. Arthur Larson of USIA had decided against closing its
ion in Munich. The Director commented this was the first he had heard of
and asked DD/P to advise Cord Meyer of Mr. LiT11021i I decision.
c) Noted that is leaving in the near future for
and commented he had advised him that possibly some of our people
he way would get in touch with him. The Director made it clear, however,
had not given a firm commitment. ACTION: DD/P to advise those
COS who in his opinion should get in touch with Note: DCI handed
DI3/1,1 itinerary.
Colonel White:
Noted that the Agency is 300 over the perso el ceiling est&bUshed by
the Director and commented that project recently approved1 would
further increase this overage by 30. He said obviously it would be impossible
to maintain the established ceiling ii projects are to be approved authorising
additional personnel. Since is the responsibility of DD/P and DD/I
together with DD/S responsibility for Aapport, he recommended that all three
components furnish a pro-rata share of the 30 slots required for this project.
The Director approved but made it clear he desired implemented at
the earliest possible date.
