Approved For Release 2002/05/01 [ P76-00183R000200110027-3 DIARY NOTES DD S 18 September 1957 1. Attended a meeting of the GEHA Board at which Messrs. Randall and Jones of Mutual of Omaha were present. It was a very interesting session, but they still have not answered satisfactorily the question which concerns me as to whether or not we are justified in paying the administrative costs of this program from appropriated funds. I also got a definite impression during the discussion that very little had been done by the Office of Personnel to find out what other Government agencies were doing, and. I must follow up on this with Gordon Stewart. 2. Spent an hour with Larry Houston and discussing Project 25X1A9a and particularly the recent report of audit which General Pro- ject. Emphasized to Bob that must be put in better shape in short order. While he has taken a number o steps to do this I am still not sure that they will be suf- ficient, and I told him that as soon as Gates Lloyd returned I wanted to discuss with both of them the desirability of setting up something for the Project similar to the Executive Committee in in order to bring more concerted attention to it. 3.1 1 briefed me on his further investigation of the case based upon which he believes there is no doubt but thatQ should be separattd)(1A9a He is preparing the necessary papers. 25X1A 4. briefed General Cabell (and I attended) on his recent trip to the Far East. In this connection we also discussed the existing vacancy on the Board of Directors. General Cabell appears to be anxious to have Mr.1_ ppointed to this 25X1A9a vacancy and I told George to push this along as rapidly as possible.
