30 August 1957
25X1A9a 1. who is retiring from the Office of the Comptroller, was in
for a brief chat. His attitude toward the Agency as he leaves is excellent.
2. Ed Saunders advised me that the Inspector General had instituted a program
of interviewing all overseas returnees.
3. Ed also said that Bob Macy, Bureau of the Budget, had indicated that he would
like to see the "?46 questions" which the House Appropriations Committee had asked us
for and our responses thereto. Ed had cleared this with the Director prior to his de-
parture for Europe and his question to me was whether or not he should take the ini-
tiative in getting in touch with Mr. Macy. I advised him to leave this to Macy.
4. reported that two GSA guards at had been picked up 25X1A6a
for stealing from GSA warehouses. There may be other guards involved, and since
they also protect our warehouse they may have taken something from it. Stan Grogan
has been notified. in case there is any publicity.
5. Interviewed Mr. , Office of Logistics, who is under consid-
eration for separation from the Agency as a substandard employee. (See Memorandum
for the Record.)
6. Shef reported that he had lunched with IIr today and that from a lay-
man's point of view he thought that Joe's condition had improved substantially. He will
pass this on to Dr. Tietjen.
