b) Asked if it was necessary to submit reappointment papers on Chiefs
of Stations. The Director said in his opinion such action only added to paper
work and further he was not convinced the appointments, with the
exception of hardship posts, should be limited to a given period of time. He
stated there was no reason why there should not be an informal agreement
as to how long a Chief of Station would serve. Mr. 0 commented that by
and large overseas assignments conform with those of the Department of State.
ACTION: DDIP to review procedures for appointments and reappointments
of Chiefs of Statics.
