1. eported that Congressman Vinson had asked the Director to brief
the CIA a committee on the 20th. We agreed that it would be desirable to brief the com-
mittee on Project HTAUTOMAT at that time and will try to persuade the Director that this
is in order.
a. Chief, FI Staff, had interested himself in the coordina-
tion between the _ SR Division, and the Office of Training. He presumed
that a paper would be coming forward on this subject and I told him that I would
be on the lookout for it.
b. He was having his annual meeting (Christmas Party) at 4:00 p.m. on
the 19th. I told him that I would be glad to be present and say a few words.
c. Kirk had laid on a trip to for representatives of the Civil
Service Commission on the 16th and 17th of this month at which I expressed
some surprise. He indicated that Gordon Stewart was going along.
f. He had received a letter from Major General O. C. Troxel, Jr., Chief,
Special Warfare, Department of the Army, requesting a complete orientation

for two of his officers as a result of which the would determine the types of
courses, if any, their personnel might take While this 25X1A
could grow into a real burden for the Agency I told Matt that I thought he should
go ahead and give the briefing.
3. Attended the Support Exhibit with General Cabell who was very pleased with it.
I noted that there had been some improvement since last month but that the Office of Com-
munications still did not have an exhibit as yet.
4. Gordon Stewart reported that he had accepted resignation without
difficulty. He said that_behaved himself very well and merely commented that
"there are times when honorable men disagree." I advised General Cabell.
