1. At the Deputies' Meeting:
a. The Director discussed the events of the National Security Council
Meeting of Thursday. Generally speaking, everything went very well and
the President seemed to strengthen our position by indicating that he very
definitely looked to CIA to coordinate all national intelligence. The pro
posed revision of NSCID #7 was deferred and a joint report in connection 25X1A9a

would have anything to do with writing cables to enter
cable writing prior to their departure. He also instructed to
send out a very short but terse cable to the field directing that cables be
shorter and more concise.
c. In a discussion of Mr. Stans' appointment as Director of the Budget
it was agreed that we should arrange to brief him as soon as he could spare
the time.
