Approved For W ease 2000/ps 'V8 ;~ b0183R 90300010170-4 DIARY NOTES DDS 30 January 1958 1. expounded his ideas on what the Office of Training should be doing in the way o management training and I asked him to explore this with Matt Baird. 2. John reported that he could do his work just as well with five less people than he now had and that those whom he would like to let go were Messrs. _ I asked him to get in touch with Gordon Stewart and see what he could do to help dispose of these individuals. 3. He discussed with me the length of time which he should remain in the Agency. I told him that I was not anxious to have him leave but that under the as - sumption that he would be leaving sometime within the next year or two I had been giving some thought to a possible replacement and had thought of either At first blush he was not enthusiastic about Emmett but thought that Hugh would be a very good choice. He said that he was willing to leave the Agency at any time we wanted him to but that if it were satisfactory to us he probably would remain until October of 1959. He will be 63 years of age next July and will have completed nine years of service in October. If he should remain until October, 1959, this would allow him to complete ten years of governmental. service. Approved For Release 2000/09/08 : CIA-RDP76-00183R000300010170-4
