1. Shef Edwards telephoned to say that the Security Staff in the Office of Current
Intelligence could be reduced by one position and that he wanted to pick up the slot so
that he could use it in connection with the new building. I told him I doubted that we could
do this but that I would speak to Bob Amory about it.
2. I called Jim Garrison's attention to General -memorandum of 23 De- 2 X1 A9a
cember which transmitted an audit report of Special Stock Account No. 2 and asked him
to look into this without further delay. I am not anxious to return $270, 000 to the Treas -
ury if there is any proper way to avoid it.

Program which has been approved for the FE Division so that he could discuss it with
people in the field.
