Approved For Release4p01/03/30: 16-00183RQQp300020131-6 25X1 A DIARY NOTES DD/S 21 October 1958 25X1A6a 1. Jim Garrison called about the Staff D I do not know how much exploring he has done but I told him that I would like to wait until I talked with Gates and that he should not do anything in the meantime. 25X1 A9a 2. was in for a few minutes. He had no problems requiring DD/S attention and to him that we would go ahead with our plans 25X1A9a to replace as Chief of Administration around the 1st of June next year. 25X1A9a 3. John Tietjen reported that as back from his trip to Africa and thought that health conditions there were perhaps a little better than they are in the Middle East. He is preparing a written report which I will see later. 25X1A9a 25X1A9a 4. John Tietjen believes that his visits to certain clinics and hospitals in Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York last week were extremely beneficial and I encouraged him to continue this in other cities. 5. left for a trip to the Far East today and - will be the Acting Deputy Chief of the Medical Staff during his absence. 6. General Cabell advised me of his desire to have White House telephones installed in the homes of all members of the United States Intelligence Board. Thiswould involve ten people. If essential we could omit the FBI, AEC and Secretary of Defense representa- tives. I have asked Jim Garrison to explore this and to report on how it can be done. 25X1A9a 7. With Gordon Stewart, I talked to General Cabell about his recommendations for promotion of Air Force Reserve Officers to the rank of 25X1 A9a Brigadier General. We agreed tentatively to recommend 25X1A9a 25X1A9a the CIA Safety Officer, were up to brief me on trip to Europe. It does appear that his trip was very well worthwhile and I asked Gene to give some consideration to what general instructions we might publish for the benefit of all Stations. 25X9A6 ************ Approved For Release 2001/03/30 : t I4k j t f76-00183R000300020131-6 Approved For Release401/03/30 ?.m P76-001838 0300020131-6 25X9A6 Approved For Release 2001/03/30 : C 16-00183R000300020131-6
