Approved For Release 2001/03/22 CIA-RDP76-001898000300060122-2 T 44. 25X1A 25 March 1960 DD/S 25X1A9a 1. I have agreed to release to the Office of Communications on 1 May 1960. 25X1 A9a 2. lerted me to the fact that I might hear some complaints about the teletape service. He pointed out that since this teletape material was now coming in over the KW-26, the Divisions expected it to be decrypted and disseminated as fast as cables. This we cannot do without more personnel and, of course, it was never intended that it compete with cables, but, rather, it is supposed to compete with dispatches, and it 25X1A9a has done a magnificent job in this regard. He also alerted me to the fact that was planning to have a meeting on 11 April to discuss the value of the teletape service ands re suggested that we should both be there. I told him that I would be glad to attend if I V#&8 W invited to do so. 3. I took the Director to see the Templating Project for our new building. He seemed highly pleased with what he saw with one exception; that is, he does not like his conference 25X1 X7 room on the e'ide of the building. (We pursued this also on Saturday morning when I took the Director and ut to Langley. The Director was most emphatic that he wanted a large and luxurious conference room with a "view. " He is agreeable to having it on the sixth instead of the seventh floor if this will solve our problem. I will pursue this 25X1A9a with on Monday.) 4. Colonel Grogan telephoned to say that he was receiving inquiries from the Press which were prompted by Joe Young's articles in Thursday night's Star stating that CIA had a group health plan that paid benefits without the underwriter knowing the names of the 25X1 A9a insured individuals. After checking with e requested that Colonel Grogan respond merely by saying that we had various kinds of arrangements with many companies and that we did not care to pinpoint any particular company. 5. Shef Edwards alerted me to the fact that- was not performing up to par and that he had suggested that Bill be demoted to a grade GS-14. 25X1A9a LKW:ecb Approved For Release 2001/03/22: CIA-RD'P16a00183R000300060122-2 DIARY NOTES
