he and some sixteen others had just made to the He feels that the

2. , who is here on TDY from was in with General
to visit with me for a few minutes. I gathered from his conversation that
the Support people at the feel that they have had a pretty rough work-
ing over at the hands of in his efforts to reduce the Station. I have
also gathered from other sources that the Station generally does not feel that this
matter has been approached in the right way. Jack went out of his way to commend
again for the splendid job which he has done at the Station. He called two
spec is items to my attention: First, some time ago Jack wrote to us about a Colonel

pay to pursue his law studies at Yale University. He intends to concentrate on "Land
Usage" which may not have very much practical application to the Agency unless it
should be in a proprietary project of some kind. At the moment he seems to have
every intention of returning to the Agency at the end of ten months, but, of course,
time and other opportunities will have to decide whether this actually happens. STATSPEC
4. George Carey telephoned to say that Bob Amory had directed that the -
STATSPEC be issued six days a week for the time being--at least during the Berlin
Crisis. This necessitates not only extra effort by_ but also by our Printing STATSPEC
Services Division. He also wanted to make arrangements to have the air-conditioning
STATSPEC turned on in certain blocks of the space during the weekend. I have asked Jim
Garrison to do his best to take care of this situation.
