DIARY NOTES
DD/S 24 July 1961
1. At the Deputies' Meeting this morning we discussed briefly the two fires
that occurred in "M" Building last Saturday, 22 July 1961. 1 have transmitted Walter
Pforzheimer's report of this incident to the Office of Security. However, after per-
sonal inspection of the damage it seems reasonable to assume that the first and
largest fire which occurred about 1430 hours on Saturday was caused by a hot plate
and that the second was caused by spontaneous combustion in the PBS mop closet.
I have asked Bob to make sure that the char force is jacked up about
this since it appears probable that they were responsible for both fires.
