DIARY NOTES
25X1A6a
DD/S 4kl' --~,
I spent the day reviewing the construction program and training
activities going on there now.
1. With regard to construction the housing contract is complete
with the exception of grading and seeding the surrounding lawns. This
will be done as soon as the weather is favorable --within the next few
days. In connection with these houses, however, the rentals have to be
established, and the paper on this subject has been bounced around for
some considerable time without resolution. (On Tuesday, I telephoned
Matt Baird and asked him to get this paper to me with his comments and
recommendations as soon as possible.)

2. The construction on the Administration Building is going pretty
well. They are only slightly behind schedule, and I am sure that this is
due entirely to bad weather. The Staff feels that it has
an excellent contractor and that there will be no problem in keeping up
with its schedule. They expect by about 1 May to award the contract for
the remainder of the construction.
3. They raised with me the question of an additional swimming pool
in conjunction with the gymnasium. I am favorably disposed to this proj-
ect; however, it will be dependent upon the availability of fourth-quarter
money. - thought that they could produce some specifications for
less than $5,000 which would enable us to award a contract late in the
Fiscal Year. I asked him to clear this with Matt Baird and to submit a
proposal.
4. In connection with training, they are quite busy now with the Op-
erations Course going full speed for the JOT's and the Operations Famil-
iarization Course for other employees. In addition, there are two groups
25X1 A6a trainees. (Even during a period when they are quite busy at
25X1A of one can't help being impressed with the sizable staff and the consid-
erable expense it takes to train a small number of people. I want to talk
to Matt about this and see if we can't continue to make greater use of the
25X1 A facilities that we have )
