1. I talked to riefly about the adverse effect on morale because of
the way in which was relieved of his job as Comptroller and of 25X1
current unhappiness about the busting up of his office. =spoke to Mr. 25X%%
McCone about this, and the latter is going to see Messrs. when 25X1
he returns from the West Coast.
2. I invited General Carter to come to the next DD/S Staff Meeting, and he has
accepted. At his convenience we will have it on Thursday, 19 April, at 0930, in
lieu of Wednesday, 18 April.
3. I met with the Director and Messrs. Neal and Cox of the Treasury Department
to discuss the Freedom Bond Drive. The Director assured Mr. Neal that we would
25X1A9A support the Drive and asked me to prepare the necessary papers for his signature.

I telephoned John Bross and asked him to get the additional $4, 500, 000
from the reserve. I have asked to work with the Comptroller to give
whatever support should be necessary.

6. Larry Houston was in to talk to me about the CAT poard Meeting in
Washington which would normally be scheduled for 15AW. I told him to go ahead
and invite the Board, and we would have to take our chances in getting the Director
or Deputy Director for lunch. (I am sure we can get one of them.) I agreed to take

9. As the Director was leaving for the West Q oast he told Q not to do
anything about his office, i.e., sealing of the doors. He did authorize us to go
ahead with the corridor alon the back side of the dining room, and I have com-
