1. telephoned to say that the Director would like to entertain
Senator Symington and others for lunch on Monday, 10 December, following
the award ceremony for George Carey. (The Office of Personnel has furnished
Walt with a list of the senior citizens who have accepted invitations to the cere-
mony. The Director's office will take it from there.)
2. telephoned today to say that he had finally been able to
talk to the Director about The 25X1A5a1
Director knows has a high regard for him, but does not want
anything unusual done in this particular case.
3. and Emmett Echols were in to clear with me a letter which
they had written to the Bureau of the Budget asking for clearance to submit our
early retirement legislation during the next session of Congress.
25X1A9a 4. telephoned to report on the results of today's meeting
with the contractor, NPIC, and others to finalize the arrangements for the
25X1A6a operational move The contractor has until 31 December to
complete his contract, and he wanted every day of that time. (Hence, we will
not start moving NPIC operations prior to 31 December. So the score runs
something like this- -the construction is on schedule and will be finished by
31 December. There will be odds and ends to clean up for some time. NPIC
will start moving that same day and will be in limited operation within 24 hours.
They expect to have a full-scale operation going within five days. Of course,
the pre-positioning of furniture has already started and will be completed prior
to 31 December.)
