With Jim Garrison and I visited which is now 89 per cent complete (2.6 per cent ahead of schedule). There appeared to remain a great deal to do to complete this building; however, the Public Buildings Service Superintendent and explained that they believed all of the big, critical items were behind us and were optimistic that we would remain on schedule. They further explained that plasterers will be finished in about a week, after which time the place can be cleaned up and will present a much more realistic appearance as to its readiness. 2. I also visited d saw the space where the Map Library is to go. (I see no reason why this space won't be quite adequate when it is renovated, d i d n ue time it seems reasonable to expect that the area will not be an unpleasant place in which to work.) 4 called to say that the transportation arrangements for have worked out satisfactorily. Tom requested that we continue to have a car available after working hours as we have had for Des but that other Division Chiefs be notified of its availability. (I have asked Alan to do this without delay.) 5.. Pete Scoville telephoned to say that he and John Bross had just spent an hour with General Carter and that General Carter had approved the entire DD/R program with full budget and personnel as originally requested. He now, of course, wants to move as quickly as possible on space. 6. I met with Jim Garrison, to explain the circumstances leading up to anun ng e s detail tote Office of Logistics at grade GS-14. (See my Memorandum for the Record.) LKW:jas Approved For Release 2001/08/08 : CIA-RDP76-00183R000400030065-8 SECRET
