DIARY NOTES
25X1A
25X1A
1. 1. The Director had the Executive Committee for lunch, and immediately
afterwards General Carter met with us to bring us up to date on the situation
concerning Cuba and the action which would be announced in the President's
speech at 1900 tonight.
2. In the course of our meeting with the Director, he requested that Shef
Edward's people check the telephones at his home immediately to ensure that
they had not been tapped. (This was done; findings were negative. However, the
amplifier in the phone did need attention, and the telephone company is taking
care of this.)
3. The Director also asked me to ensure that procedures are worked
out before the close of business today whereby all people can be contacted during
off-duty hours. I later issued viting the attention of all Operating
Officials to Regulatio which sets up this procedure.
25X1A9a 4. elephoned to advise me that had been retired
as a Colonel with 100 per cent disability. He therefore will draw an annuit of
$652.50 per month tax free in addition to his CIA salary. I told 1A9a
that I wanted to consider this further as a policy matter but would have to defer
it for a few days.
