DIARY NOTES
25X1A9a
DD/S 12 February 1963
1. 1 had several conversations with Jim Garrison, and 25X1 A9a
Emmett Echols about the "blue book" costing $50 a page. I finally got the price
down to $25 a page but have asked them to take a good look at the whole problem
and see if there isn't some still more economical way to produce a satisfactory
book at less cost.
2. Emmett Echols advised me that representatives of the Amalgamated 25X1A a
Lithographers of America had asked for a meeting with on Friday,
15 February, "just to get acquainted. " I have talked to Emmett and Jim Garrison
about this and told them that Bob should direct these people to the Office of Personnel.
(This would appear to be one of the first steps in an attempt to invade our Printing
Services Division, and I want to keep them as far away as I can for as long as I can.)
3. were in to see me about
25X1 A6a urchasin a house in which has been a growing situation with the
over the past several weeks. As of now, I have an appointment
25X1 C4a with tomorrow morning at 25X1 C4a
1015 hours to discuss this subject further.
4. John Tietjen, who was home sick, telephoned about the controversy about
A&E functions. It was his understanding, as a result of the recent meeting with
25X1A9a that Tom subscribed wholeheartedly
to John's feeling about administering drugs only under proper medical supervision.
25X1A9a If this is the case, John has no objection to the transfer of from _ 25X1 A6,
to Saigon and his PCS extension for one year. He suggested that we take the
initiative on this, and I told him that I would telephone Tom and try to initiate
a cable to get this particular matter sorted out.
5. Emmett Echols told me th had been in to see him and was 25X1 A9a
asking for all sorts of special consideration. For example, he wanted his grade
GS-15 restored, he wanted a copy of his record to show that he voluntarily resigned,
and he wanted his daughter to have summer employment privileges. I told him
that Ted had his chance and that I did not wish to show him any preferential
consideration.
