1. At the Executive Committee Meeting this morning:
4 February 1963
b. The Director asked me where we stood on the acquisition of real
estate. I told him that we were moving on this today. He said, "Keep
me posted. " (I anticipate he will keep a lot of pressure on this until
acquisition is complete.)

2. reported that Colonel Langford, DIA Director of Training,
telephoned to say that they were pleased that we were going to furnish a faculty
advisor but, since they had no space, hoped that we could put the actual assignment
off until spring or summer 1963. Bill agreed and offered to be of any possible
assistance in the meantime.
3. General Carter telephoned to request that I call General_ in New
York about his recent letter. I learned that General _ was sick and with
General Carter's permission arranged to have Gates do this on Wednesday,
6 February.
4. Mr. Kirkpatrick telephoned to ask if I had heard of the DD/P efforts
to obtain a "safehouse" in the Washington, D. C., area where DD/P people
would meet with foreign VIP's in a sort of clubhouse arrangement. He said that he
had heard that they had gone so far as to make a deposit on a house. I told

him that I didn't see how this could have happened without my knowledge but would
check with the Office of Logistics to be sure and report back to him.
25X1 A 5. reported that the Coffee-Time vending machine people
have found two counterfeit (thermofax) dollar bills in the dollar-bill changing
machine.
25X1 A 6. was down to see me to say that General Carter's tentative
departure date for it e ar East was on or about 1 March and he thought that
General Carter would like to have me accompany him.
