b. We ensure that any speaker who will use training aids at the
National War College presentation has checked them out in advance to
ensure that there are no mix-ups such as we had last year. (I talked
to both about this.)

1. At the Executive Committee Meeting:
3 October 1963
a. The Director again expressed his concern about OXCART's
being exposed and asked General Carter and Bud Wheelon to expedite
their deliberations with about just what should be done
about this.
b. The Director reported that he met yesterday with Senator Russell,
Congressman Mahon, and others including Mr. Hitch, the Comptroller of
the Department of Defense. He feels that it is now generally understood
that the Department of Defense has an obligation to provide us with the
controversial and that there won't be any further problem
about this provided Mr. Cannon writes the proper kind of letter. Larry
Houston was instructed to get in touch with the House Appropriations
Committee and attempt to ensure that Mr. Cannon's letter is appropriate.
2. Mr. Kirkpatrick telephoned to request that:
a. When senior people such as Mr. McConeare speaking in the
auditorium, we have someone adjust the microphone to assure that the
speaker can be heard. (I passed this on to 25X1A1a
