with me. He felt highly complimented and was indeed pleased to be going to

Harvard and then to the Midcareer Course. He was anxious to know exactly
what job we have in mind for him. I told him that this was difficult for me to
say at the moment but that I hoped that after attending Harvard and the Mid-
career Course he would stay in Headquarters for about two years before going
overseas again. This arrangement would please him very much. However,
he understands that I cannot make this an ironclad commitment, and he is
ready, willing, and able to go anywhere we want to send him.
