DIARY NOTES
DD/S
15 - 16 June 1964
I spent Monday and Tuesday, 15 and 16 June, at
a. The appearance of the construction is improving as the contrac-
tor phases out and landscaping takes shape. Probably because of the
absence of summer-only employees the base does not look as sharp as
it has in the past. Weeds and grass are well ahead of us this year. I
spoke to out this and suggested that he give some priority
to the small children's playground, which is used by many youngsters
and which has grass and weeds all over it almost knee-high.
b. I also spoke to Bob about a little better performance at the new
swimming pool. The pool does not appear to be very strongly super-
vised. The attendant never bothered to take down the "Pool Closed"
sign, children were eating food in the enclosure, there was a can of
trash and garbage at 3 p.m. which one had to pass to get from the men's
shower and bathroom to the pool, and I saw almost none of the 50 to 100
people in the pool take showers before entering.
