1. Larry Houston called about the overrun of $100, 000 in the A & E plans
for the Printing Services Division's plant about which Alan Warfield had
alerted me. Larry was very much concerned about this and thought, as I did,
that as a minimum we would have to go back to our House and Senate Appro-
priations Committees, and he questioned whether they have the authority to
approve any expenditure in excess of the $46 million. (I therefore advised
Alan Warfield that we will have to build a printing plant within the money avail-
able and asked him to inform the General Services Administration, the architect,
and anybody else who is involved at this point.)
3. briefed us today on the interrogation Research Divi-
sion, and I was pleased to learn that, in contrast to his briefing of last year,
there is now considerable work being done in the research and development
field. DD/S& has a contract with
which I understand is the same project the Medical Staff tried to launch sev-

me a briefing on this project sometime.)

to thank me on behf forte papers which sent him about
our early retirement legislation and regulations. (I advise
of WE Division of this telephone call.)
5. John Tietjen advised me that he talked with-again about
his son ~ and that he thought Jack would be coming to see me.
