(I talked to John about this. He said that he would talk to Ting Sheldon and would be in touch with me.) b. General Carter also advised me that he had requested a series of CIA briefings for senior NSA personnel and that he hoped I would take a personal interest in them and ensure that we use top-level speakers. I assured him that I would look into this. (This I have done.) 25X1A9a 4. telephoned to say that the Director found the list of per- sonnel detailed to the White House satisfactory and intended to use it on an appropriate occasion to impress McGeorge Bundy with the amount of assistance we are rendering. 5. was in for a short 25X1A6a visit. He expressed no dissatisfaction with the support he has received. However, I gathered that he feels - has been understaffed with 25X1 A competent Support people. He mentioned that we had been unable to furnish a doctor who would be placed under and that he planned to talk 25X1 C4a 25X1 A9a with about this tomorrow morning. 6. At Mr. Kirkpatrick's request I ascertained from Howard Osborn 25X1 A9a that we could give the necessary clearances to attend the National Interdepartmental Seminar beginning on 14 June. 7. He admitted, however, that this figure was probably quite low and recommended that the Director employ a good architect to produce detailed plans. He also thought that a good architect might effect some savings by using good substitute materials for some of those the Director said he wanted. 10. I talked with both John Tietjen and Bob Fuchs about the case. It is still too soon to make a decision on this, but I gathere from John that he tentatively thinks the problem could be handled better in the 11. John Tietjen was in to discuss the following: 25X1A9a 25X1A9a 25X1A6a a. He briefed me on the history of the case. In retro- 25X1A9a spect, John felt that, had the Medical Staff been more aggressive, _ 25X1 A9a might well be alive today. I arranged for him to brief Dick Helms on this case at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. b. John also talked with me about the medal for . He 25X1A9a thought that no presentation should be made for at least the next few days and was somewhat dubious about the desirability of presenting it at all. LKW:jrf *Extract to DTR on 9 June 1965.
