DIARY NOTES
DD/S7 May 1965
1. At the Executive Committee Meeting this morning:
25X1A6a
25X1A6a
25X1A9a
a. During a discussion of the communications satellite, the Direc-
tor requested that we look into the possibility of using this satellite for
some of our own transmissions. (Although he addressed his remarks
to Bud Wheelon, I shall relay this suggestion to to
see if it has any practical value.)
b. I reported that we had removed our KW-26 equipment from
Admiral Raborn wanted to ensure that all communications
equipment is removed from -. (I subsequently telephoned
and verified that this was actually the case and so
advised Admiral Raborn at the Executive Committee Meeting on Monday,
10 May.
c. I reported on the new, all-hazard accident-type insurance which
the Benefits and Services Division has developed with Mutual of Omaha.
Everyone was pleased with this new policy, particular) since this cov-
erage has been made effective for our employees I
hope that we can publish an Agency-wide announcement about this new
insurance very soon because it appears that many of us who carry a
$100,000 Travel-Matic policy could obtain a $100,000 all-hazard acci-
dent insurance policy at little additional cost.
for transmission to Senator John J. Williams. (The information arrived on
Monday, 10 May, and I sent it to Larry Houston with the suggestion that it
be handcarried to Senator Williams, after which I should advise Bill Schmidt
that this has been done.)
d. I reported that the General Counsel had looked into the possi-
b~empting from taxation part of the income of our employees
but had learned that the Internal Revenue Code does not per-
mit this exemption for civilians. The Director asked Larry Houston
to look into this again to see if there is any possibility of changing the
legislation. *
2. Bill Schmidt, Acting Commissioner of the Public Buildin s Service,
telephoned to say that he was sending us the cost information on
LKW :jrf
*Extract to D/Pers on 12 May 1965.
