On 2 October Mr. Colby called to ask our
current reassignment plans for He recalled Ki

he had suggested consideration ol assignment to the IG Staff or to 0/PPB.
He further said that Mr. Broe indicated that I had some reservations
about him as a member of the IG Staff. I told Mr. Colby that based on
observation in his last assignment before he went to_.
I did have some reservations about his being an InspectorTPTINTL
pointed out, however, that case is currently being STATINTL
considered by our senior panelists. I also noted that
Chief of Support, EUR is in the field on TDY and that we are anticipating
his return with up to date information I also ment1331V4VINTL
that return timetable did not coincide with the timing of
DD/S vacancies on the IG Staff. Mr. Colby felt that the IG might still be
able to accommodate his assignment and went on to say that he felt
would bring fresh ideas and a fresh approach which could be
helpful to the IG. I told Mr. Colby that I would be in touch with Mr. Broe
and also that we would work on this reassignment while looking to
return from Europe.
On 3 October I spoke with Mr. Broe and mentioned Mr. Colby's
call to me of yesterday. Mr. Broe said that he had also been contacted
but had no information on the suggested discouragement. I &11431TINTL

assigned to the IG upon his return. Mr. Broe said that not
only was there no "Support" slot coming open next summer but not really
any position which has not already been filled or anticipated and desired to
be filled by another Directorate.
