1. Military Fair:
of the Recruitment Division reported on their participation in the
Military Job Fair held at San Antonio, Texas, October 4-6. Much
smaller than previous programs at Crystal City they briefly
interviewed some 125 men and women leaving service (many retirees).
They gave applications to only nine.
2. High School Counselors: An article in the current issue of
Engineering Education reports that only four percent of engineering
students were influenced by their high school counsellors. The
professional cooperative education associations have suspected this
and have recently been running training courses to acquaint
counsellors with the job opportunities in engineering.
3. Photographs: All of the photographs taken of the employees who
received their longevity certificates from the Director at the Annual
Awards Ceremony were mailed to the respective recipients yesterday.
4. Retirement Seminar: Retirement Affairs has tentatively identified
all the speakers for the forthcoming Retirement Seminar and the six
retirees who will constitute a discussion panel at the Seminar. I will
review them myself before a final decision is made.
