1. me Support category of the IDEALIST funding request
25X1 contained for IRAN of four Agency aircraft during FY 1974. On
4 May, an ana ysis of four SAC aircraft on which IRAN was performed during
FY 1973 was received from the airframe contractor. This analysis indicated
that IRAN need not be performed at 2400 flying hours, but could be extended
to 3400 flying hours. It will therefore not be necessary to perform IRAN
on IDEALIST aircraft during FY 1974 as originally programmed. At the
present utilization rate, it is estimated that two aircraft will require
IRAN during FY 1975, and the remaining two during FY 1976. Should
additional missions be assigned resulting in increased aircraft flying
hours, the FY 75 IRAN requirement could.,possibly increase to four, but
such a requirement can be addressed-at-a 1:ater date, should it arise.
