See Memo for Record. 2. GLC) Accompanied the Director and 25X1A to a briefing of the House Appropriations Committee Special Group on Agency activities involving Chile. See Memo for Record. 25X1A 3. GLC) Received a call from I I General Counsel of NSA, who expressed interest in the fact that the Baker/Weicker proposal for joint committee had been referred to the Senate Government Qperations Committee. l told him I thought this referral was proper and as I recalled it was the same procedure followed when Senator Mansfield' introduced his joint committee proposal in 1956. We also discussed the Mondale select committee proposal and I tol~it was the feeling of our bring him u '-to-date on the status of that bill. I mentioned to the flurry of activity in a number of legislative V51roposals including amendments to the Freedom of Information Act and other similar legislation.
