Page 4 , Received a call from Ms. Ellie Vogtrnann, 25X1 Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, who asked for the 26 November 1973 transcript of hearings before the Committee entitled "Briefing on Chile" to be delivered first thing Monday morning. Arrangements were made with STAT to deliver the transcript on Monday morning. 13. Met with Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel, House 25X1 Armed Services Committee, and gave him a copy of blind STAT memorandum of the minutes of the meeting of 30 September 1974 of the bi-weekly Intelligence Subcommittee briefing. I also briefed Slatinshek on Covert Action Item #2 . I then discussed with him the meeting with Chairman Jack Brooks (D. , Texas), Subcommittee on Government Activities, House Committee on Government Operations, scheduled for Monday, 7 October at 3:00 p.m. I 1,ft with Slatinshek a copy of the letter to Chairman Chet Holifield (D. , Calif.), V.-House Committee on Government Operations, concerning H. R. 16373 relating to individual access to information held by government agencies. 14. Met with Ed Braswell, Chief Counsel and Staff Director, Senate Armed Services Committee, and briefed him on Covert Action Item #2. 15. Stopped by to see Ralph Preston, House Appropriations Committee staff, but he is out of the city on a trip to the West Coast until Tuesday, 8 October. 16. ) Picked up a letter for John Clarke, IC staff, from Representative Peter H. Y.), called late yesterday afternoon to request the text of a speech Premier Fidel Castro gave recently while Senators Javits and Claiborne Pell (D., R. I.) were in Cuba. Called FBIS . In the company of , George Lauder, and met with General William B. Maxson, Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Atomic Energy, who is going to serve as an escort officer for an upcoming trip with George Murphy, Joint Committee on Atomic Energy staff. No special arrangements were agreed to and none seemed to be needed. 9. , Sharon Matts, Administrative Assistant to Representative Jack Brooks (D., Texas), called to ask if the briefing on SAT scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday, 7 October, could be changed to 3 p.m. After checking with the offices of OGC, and DDA, I told Brooks' office the briefing would be changed to 3 p.m. 10. Accompanied Carl Duckett, DDS&T, to a meeting with Chairman Lucien N. Nedzi (D. , Mich. ), Intelligence Subcommittee, House Armed Services Committee, Chairman F. Edward Hebert (D. , La. ), House Armed Services Committee, and Frank Slatinshek, Chief Counsel of the Committee, for a briefing on a sensitive project. Mr. Duckett will continue to keep the Committee advised on the matter. In a later conversation with Chairman Nedzi, he told me that he had talked to Chairman Jack Brooks (D. , Texas), Subcommittee on Government Activities, House Committee on Government Operations, and that William M. Jones, Staff Director of the Subcommittee, will be sitting in on the Agency briefing on Monday. Nedzi told me there were no particular caveats but that the meeting would be in B:L?ooks' office and for the purpose of briefing him on the SAT matter. As far as Air America/Air Asia, Nedzi said we should not hesitate to mention the GAO study and fill him in on as much detail as is necessary. I thanked him for his advice. 11. Received a call from Robert A. Crandall, Counsel, House Committee on Internal Security, who told me that Chairman Richard H. Ichord (D. , Mo.), Chairman of the Committee, is having difficulty with the hearing scheduled for the week of 7 October and that it will be necessary to reconfirm on Monday, 7 October, for the meeting scheduled for for Wednesday, 9 October.
