25X1 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2014/02/10: CIA-RDP76M00527R000700140029-8 Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Thursday - 26 September 1974 CIX INTERNAL: USE ONLY Page 4 12. Discussed with Barbara Wadsworth, 25X1 Legislative Counsel in the office of Representative Jerry Litton (D. , Mo. ), a letter from a constituent which she had forwarded to the Agency for action. The writer requested Mr. Litton to look into the activities of one "Bilderbergers" which was being investigated by Liberty Lobby, an organi- zation in Washington, D. C. I explained to her that the matter was clearly outside of the province of the Agency. She said she understood and had also sent the letter to the FBI, but had not yet heard from them. 13. Called Jim Kronfeld, Staff Counsel, 25X1 House Government Operations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations and Government Information, and informed him that we would go ahead and L......-Oepare our floor amendment and colloquy on__LT,..a..6373, the right of privacy bill. We discussed as to which member should make the floor presentation. Kronfeld felt it best that it not be a member who is a strong proponent of the Agency; rather, the member should be clearly identified as a proponent of privacy legislation. I suggested Chairman Chet Holifield (D. , Cal.) Subcommittee Chairman William S. Moorhead (D. , Pa.). The decision will be made after the material is prepared. 14. Wilkey Donelson, OMB, called and asked 25X1 if we would be willing to raise with Chairman Teague, FIouse Science and Astronautics Committee, the interest of the Subcommittee on Space Sciences .and Applications in satellite photography and determine Teague's desires on how to handle the matter. I told Donelson I would take this up with Carl Duckett and be back in touch with him. 15. Called Senator Claiborne Pell to follow up 25X1 on several items from our briefing yesterday. I reminded him that while we CIA INTERNAL USE ONLY Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2014/02/10: CIA-RDP76M00527R000700140029-8 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2014/02/10: CIA-RDP76M00527R000700140029-8 Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Thursday - 26 September 1974 .1a1X INTETINAL: USE ONLY ir'Is7, 74111N (.* littitol A ? e,4 .11 Page 3 8. , Met with Chairman Lucien Nedzi, Special 25X1 Subcommittee on Intelligence, House Armed Services Committee, and briefed him on the 19 September 1974 Although we discussed various aspects of the action requested, Chairman Nedzi had no question on the project. I emphasized that is the fulfillment of a moral obligation and a first instance of advising him before action has been taken. This completes the briefing of our four Committees. No objection was raised by any of the Committee representatives. I discussed also with Chairman Nedzi the Educational Aid Fund, some of its background and funding approaches that have been used for the Fund. Chairman Nedzi said that he would not advocate the recent change with regard to corporate gifts but that he can well understand and agrees with it. Discussed very briefly with him the current problems before the Committee as a result of the Harrington letter publication, but did not learn anything new with regard to possible courses of action to be followed by the Committee in the matter. In closing, he inquired as to the current status of a sensitive project. I told him that I would talk to Carl Duckett, DDS&T, about it and be back in touch with him. 9. Mr. Dan Sullivan, Special Assistant in the district office of Senator Lowell P. Weicker (R. , Conn.), called on behalf of a constituent who manufactures carbines and asked if we would want to purchase any. After calling Logistics, called Sullivan back and informed him that we had no interest. 10. Met with Nancy Tuck in the office of Representative John Breckinridge (D., Ky. ) and left with her an unclassified paper prepared by the DDI on the recent Soviet maneuvers "Dvina." She clearly understood that the material would be used in their reply to the constituent with no attribution to the Agency. 11. Called Mrs. Martha Doty, Clerk, House Government Operations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations and Government Information, and advised her that the galley proofs of the testimony of and others before the Subcommittee on the Agency's use of the polygraph had been completed, and that they would be delivered in the morning.
