(Internal Use Only - PLC) Called Frank Reeder, OMB, to confirm that we would accompany him to meet with the staff of the Subcommittee on Foffeign Operations and Government Information, House Committee on Government Operations, to discuss U. R. 12226. The bill would provide individuals access to records on them maintained by Government agencies. Reeder felt that an Agency representative can best explain our position to seek an exemption: The meeting will be held tomorrow morning and will be an informal discussion. 2. (Internal Use Only - PLC) Called Norm Cornish, Deputy Staff Director, Subcommittee on Foreign Operations and Government Information, House Committee on Government Operations, and discussed briefly the meeting with OMB scheduled for tomorrow morning oncF . 7_, (see Item 1 above). Cornish confirmed that the Subcommittee staff supported a total Agency exemption since they found it difficult to draft 'suitable language to cover Agency information. He felt that in the markup discussions so far the Subcommittee members see a need for an exemption to cover Agency information, but not a total exemption. We will discuss the language exempting. Intelligence Sources and Methods proposed by Representative Bella S. Abzug (D., N. Y.) and discussed by Mrs. Temko of Abzug's staff with George Cary. 3.
