1. Marty Fitzgerald, GAO, called to determine
the clearance status of James B. F. Oliphant and Richard Vermeire, of
the I-louse Select Cornmitte 'on Intelligence, preparatory to furnishing
the ~'Sr"o( ~~~! ports on narcotics trafficking dated 30 May
1975 and October 1972. I told him we had a recotd of appropriate clearances
on these staff members.
2? l3ob Boyer, I-louse Irxter?na.t:ional Relations
Committee s a. , called and asked if we could determine the authenticity
of a certain report to a foreign head of state for Chairman 'Tomas Morgan
(D., Pa. ) who in turn received this request from Representative Antonio
B. Won Pat (D., Guam). We will pick up a copy of the report from. Boyer
within the next day or so.
3? fter talking with the:Direct:or, I called
Representative o ;er t z ces (D., Fla. ), by way of blowup to his
telephone call to me yesterday, and told him that the Director was also
edgy about having someone sit in on the meeting with. II and I 25X1
repeated the suggestion that I made yesterday that the ongressman' s staff
man nierely listen to wh.a a.d to say and then pass on to us any
information he thought would be of interest. I said if it was thought: necessary
or desirable we could then arrange for]I to speak to someone in our 25X1
I loffice. Mr. Sikes said he was perfectly willing to handle
this any way we wished and that arrangement was fine by him..
4? General. Wilson, IC staff, called t:o say that he
had receive( a call Irom Tom Lattirner, DOD, who said the Secretary was
interested in knowing what th.e Director had said in his testimony before
the House Select Committee yesterday on program, I told wil x-ATINTL
that I was not present at this hearing and could not answer his question
but 7 )-tect that he talk with either IC staff, on 10 a
pecial Counsel., both of whom were present during that session.
