Hipple had a copy of the book by Philip Agee and was confused regarding the identity of Agee and David Phillips, and he wanted to know who was who. the office of Senator Claiborne Pell (D. , R. 1. ), who was interested in receiving information on the Agency's Summer Intern Program. I forwarded a copy of the current flier on the subject to his office. - of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, called to ask whether I knew what the SOSIS system was. After speaking with Congressional Support Officer, OCI, I advised her that the system was a Navy one and suggested she direct her inquiry to that service. 12. Had separate meetings with Chairmen John C. Stennis (D. , Miss. ), John L. McClellan (D. , Ark. ), Lucien N. Nedzi, (D., Mich.), and George H. Mahon (D., Tex.) to bring them up to date on meetings pertinent to the investigations of the Senate and House Select Committees. 25X1 13. I I Representative Bob Wilson called to say that a constituent has contacted him about an individual who presumably is a former CIA employee but is now working in some capacity with. Wilson said the individual uses the name I land a STATOTHR telephone number On the basis of our checks with Personnel, Security and DDO, I advised Wilson later in the day that we had no record of STATOTHR the employment of but we did have information about him indi ti ca ng that in the 1965-66 time frame he had represented himself as an employee of this Agency and another instance as recent as 1968. I told Wilson we had no idea of the significance of the telephone number he gave us and as he knew, we had no STATOTHR basis for making an inquiry with respect either to or the telephone number w' 1 25X1 i son said he understood and thanked me for the information I had given him. Harrington' s? (D. , Mass.) disclosure of information contained in'the Director's briefing of House Armed Services CIA Subcommittee on Agency activities in Chile. I reviewed the situation as I know it but suggested to Rexinger that the best sources of information were Representative Lucien Nedzi (D., Mich.) and Frank Slatinshek of the House Armed Services Coziimittee. the House Armed Services Committee staff concerning the above conversation and then called Rexinger back with some suggestions Slatinshekc gave me. 16. Handcarried to Clark McFadden on the Senate Armed Services Committee staff two versions of papers on U.S. capability for detecting Soviet MarV testing. 25X1 17. Picked up from Jim Cline of the 1-rouse 25X1A Judiciary Committee some material which he had promised to Mr. concerning his (Cline?s) recent travel to the Soviet Union. 2,2SX1A 25X1A 25X1A STATOTHR 25X1 25X1 guidance on a request he had received from a friend on the staff of Senator. Pearson (R. , Kan.) for information on the group currently making the rounds in Washington. I _J said that e had talked to several people in the ?gericy about: the group and had drawn together the information which his friend was after. I told he had to get out of the middle of this one and that one of the functions of this office was handling requests such as this He said he understood this and gave me the name of his friend, He said he wasn't sure whether this was a personal request or- an"official" one. House Post Office and Civil Service Subcommittee on Postal Facilities, Mail, and Labor Management, called. The Subcommittee is preparing a letter from Chairman Charles H. Wilson (D. , Calif, ) to the Director setting forth in detail those items which they want covered in the hearing to be held on Tuesday, 24 June 1975.
