19. LIAISON Guy McConnell, Senate
Appropriations Committee staff, advised me that their Committee had
received a letter from the Department of Justice requesting copies of
transcripts of testimony by Mr. Helms before the Committee on the subject
of the presidential election in Chile in 1970. McConnell said he will propose
to Chairman McClellan a reply indicating that Helms never appeared before
McClellan on that category. I told McConnell we would also check our
records on this.
20. LIAISON Carl Duckett, DDS&T, advised
he would contact Gus Wise, of the White I-louse staff, in Colorado and ask
him to telephone Richard Pe rl.e, on the staff of the Senate Government
Operations Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, to advise him he
has all the information on the issue of diversion of electronic circuitry which
Perle asked us about and' he will fill him in onf this when he returns from
Colorado next week.
