Approved For Release 2004/11/29 : CIA-RDP77M00144R000500080042-6 25X1 25X1 Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Page 3 Friday - 15 August 1975 CONFIDENTIAL 25X1 25X1 C 25X1 P 25X1 25X1 C 25X1 12. I I LEGISL/.'I'ION Called Paul Hoff, staff member of the Senate Committee on Government Operations, to inquire about that Committee's timetable for consideration of Agency matters, such as S. 653 which would authorize GAO audits of the Agency, and the general questions of congressional oversight. Hoff said hearings are planned, but the time and scope of the hearings have not yet been determined. However, he thought that December might be a. good guess. We also discussed the lobbying legislation before the Committee and Hoff offered that the Committee's legislation would likely be much narrower than that originally offered. He said the Committee would need the Agency's full cooperation for their hearings, and said he would be back in touch with me as things begin to take shape. 13. I I LIAISON During the day talked with Tom Sullivan and Tim Ingrain, Minority Counsel and Staff Director, Subcommittee on Government Information and Individual Rights, I-louse Government Operations Committee, on the status of the Agency's response to the Subcommittee request concerning the case. House International Relations Committee staff, and provided him com_n-ients relating to the authenticity of a document purported to have been written for President Marcos of the Philippines,- This satisfied Boyer's interests and he asked if I could prepare for him a short, blind memo for the Committee' s record. This item had originally been raised by Representative Antonio B. Won Pat (D. , Guam), with Chairman Thomas Morgan (D., Pa. ). 14. 1 LIAISON Called Bob Boyer, 15. I I LIAISON Called Representative Sam Steiger at his district office in Arizona concerning a response to the Subcommittee on Government Information and Individual Rights, House Government Operations Committee, with respect to documents relating to the case and he felt our approach was reasonable and responsible and suggested that I call the Ranking Minority Member of the full Committee, Representative Frank Horton (R. , N. Y. ), to apprise him of the developments and to mention that I was doing this with Mr. Steiger's recommendation. CON HH DEN I"IAL Approved For Release 2004/11/29 : CIA-RDP77M00144R000500080042-6
