spoke with Terry Modglin, staff member on the House

Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries, regarding M:odglin'r request
on behalf of Representative Ralph H. Metcalfe (D. , 11.10. ), Chairman of the
Subcommittee on Panama Canal, for a general background briefing on
said there would be no problem presenting such a. briefing a.c-r.d
exp'd the general ground rules, all of which were agreeable. We tenta-
tively agreed on July 21st for the briefing and Mod l.irz will call me this week
with the exact date, time, and place. was advised.
2. I Received a call from David Nierc-nberg, on
the staff o Representative Andrew Maguire (D., N.J.), who requested a
copy of the Director's report to the President of 24 December 1974, which
was released yesterday. A copy was forwarded to him.
3? Spoke with William Hastings, on the
staff of Representative William S. Cohen (R. , Main), who requested FBIS
Daily Reports for SubSahara. Africa. and MidEast/North. Africa. I called
FBIS Liaison and made the necessary arrangements.
4. Rod Smith, on the staff of Representative
Michael Harrington (D., Mass.), called to request a copy of the so-call-ed.
"Vail Report". With Mr. Cary's approval, I advised Smith that we would
mail him a copy.
5? Winston Woodland, Cori g:res.sional Resc-arch.
Service, Library of Congress, called to request a copy of the so-called
"Vail Report" and was told a copy would be mailed to him.
6. (Unclassified - RJK) Bruce Lehman, House Judiciary Committee
staff, called to request a copy of the so-called "Vail :Report" and was told
a copy would be mailed
to him.
