8. REH) INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING
Met with Lewis Gulik, on the staff of the Ilouse International Relations
Committee, to brief him on our present Soviet grain estimate.
9. ') LIAISON In response to his request the
other day, I called Chairman George H. Mahon (D. , Texas) to tell
him that we had checked our files and had pulled. together the material
he had requested on the number and dates on which we had briefed the
Special Group on a sensitive covert action program. I told him that
there had been five briefings from 1972 through 1974 and five Reserv-e
release letters during the corresponding time-frame. I added that

of our past reports to the Special Group. Chairman Mahon said it. would
not be necessary to either provide the information or the report at this
time, so long as we had the information available subject to his call.

Teague, in the office of Representative Jack Kemp (R. , N. Y. ), regarding
our prior conversation with respect to Vincent Morelli. Teague said that
he had been in touch with and they are taking care of the matter.

Chief of Sta - ouse Committee on International Relations, regarding the
to meet with me until after he returns from a trip he will be taking. He said,
however, there was no rush on the matter and that he would consider the call
an interim reply. He asked me to pass on to Mr. Cary that he needed one copy
of the transcript of each briefing on foreign intelligence operations of the `
Oversight Subcommittee during 1975 by the Director. He needs the transcripts
at 0930 hours, 10 October for about 30 minutes.
4. I ITHW); LIAISON We have made several attempts to
contact Resident Commissioner Jaime Bennitez (Pop. Dem. , P. R. ) during
the week of 6 October, but have been totally unsuccessful. We have left our
phone number and asked him to call, something which he has not done. In STAT
view of his negative response of last week's telephone conversation regarding
5, I I LIAISON I called Mike Hornblow, NSC staff,
to inform him that the House Subcommittee on International Political and
Military Affairs, Committee on International Relations has now asked for the
same documents on Mayaguez that GAO had asked for and gave him the flavor
of Mike Finley" s, on the staff of the Subcommittee, requests. We discussed
each of the items and he said he would explore just where everybody stood on
release of the Situation Reports, Post Mortem., and Logs and get: back to us.
He suggested perhaps we should push for a briefing first with any documents
to be requested if the briefing is not enough.
6. CONSTITUENT Forwarded a package of
information on the Agency and intelligence in general., to Susan MacQuiddy,
of Representative William L. Armstrong's (D. , Colo. ) office and Linda Walker,
of Representative Charles Tone's (R. , Neb. ) office, per their requests for
