(Unclassified -- BAA) At Mr. Miller's request, called Frank Sullivan, Professional Staff Member, Senate Armed Services Committee, and asked him if he would please arrange a date and time with Senator Sam Nunn (D., Ga.) for his briefing on China. Sullivan said he would check and be back in touch. Later, Mary, from Sullivan's office, called and said the Senator would like the briefing on Wednesday, 30 July, at 0915 hours, in the Senator's office. 7. (Unclassified - BAA) At Mr. Miller's request, called Julie Pineau, Personal Secretary to Representative Paul .McCloskey, Jr. (R., Calif. ),to see when the Congressman would: be available to meet withl -1 NIO/SEA, on the Congressman's 6 June 1975 request to the Agency. Ms. Pineau said that the Congressman's schedule was very bad and that she would not be able to schedule' the meeting until September, after the recess. She said she would call back then. 8. (Unclassified - BAA) Bill Hogan, Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, called and asked if the briefing of the Committee scheduled for 10:30 a. m. on Friday, 25 July, could. be changed to 2:00 p. m... 1-logan was later advised that 2:00 would be fine. 9. (Unclassified - DFM) Called Bill Hogan, House Armed Services Committee staff, to request that he retract the Agency's views on H. R. 1267. The Agency's report was erroneously sent last week without coordination with OMB. Hogan said he would pull our report from the bill file and alert the Clerk that it was not to be used in any way. 10: (Unclassified - DFM) Called George Gilbert:, COMB, to alert hi-cr.. that the Agency had erroneously sent its report on I-I.I. 126'7 to the House Armed Services Committee without coordination. with OMB. I told him we would retract the letter and send a copy to OMB a.s soon as possible. He agreed that this was necessary. 11. (Unclassified .- DFM) Received a call from Eileen. Roach, NSC* Staff. She asked if I had seen Representative Alan Steel.xnan':: (R. , Texas) new bill putting forth the statutory classification system. I told her I had and we discussed the general outlook for such a proposal in lighi: of the Murphy Commission recommendation that Congress draft: a statutory system.
