Hinshaw (R. , Calif. ), called requesting the address that a group of college students might write to find if the Agency has any information concerning them. I gave Ms. Alaux the address of the Freedom of Information Coordinator. 6. (Unclassified - PLC) Received a call from Hilda Schreiber, OMIL..,to advise us that the 5% CAP bill on retirement went to the Hill today. This is the bill limiting the cost-of-living increases for Government wide retirement. 7. (Confidential - LLM) Contacted Clark McFadden., General. Counsel, Senate Armed Services Committee, alerting him of the Executive branch position of no comment on the program described in this m.orniii.g's paper, and the underlying reasons therefor. McFadden agreed, was sure this was the basic feeling of Chairman John C. Stennis (D., Miss.) also, and advised that there had been some confirming statements by some Senators when cornered by reporters outside the Senate chamber this morning. Later in the day I recontacted McFadden concerning the query from the staff of Senator Stuart Symington's (D., Mo.) office on the cost of the project, explaining that I was prepared to provide the figure directly to McFadden and would refer the call to the Subcommittee. McFadden, preferring not to be in the middle on this one, recommended that the information be transmitted by letter to Chairman Stennis, which was done based upon information provided by , DDS&tT. McFadden requested a chronology of the unraveling of the security surrounding the project. is pulling this together. S. (Confidential - LLM) Contacted Ralph Preston, House Appropriations Committee staff, explaining to him the Executive branch position of no comment on the program described in this morning's paper, and the underlying reasons therefor; Preston agreed.
