I called Meade Emery, Assistant to the Commissioner for IRS, and
informed him of our intention to approach the Senate leadership concerning
the destruction of records. He was very interested in this and wondered
to himself aloud whether the IRS should make a comparable move. He
asked in general how we were going about doing it, and said that he
appreciated being advised.
