24. (Internal Use Only -- RJK) Har-dcarricd to Charles Snodgrass,
House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee staff, a package of cables which
had been prepared for him by Mr. Nelson, DDO, as a result of his earlier
meeting with Snodgrass. In keeping with Mr. Nelson's request, I remained
with Snodgrass while he reviewed the cables and returned them to the Agency
when he had finished with them. Snodgrass requested that we xnalce one of
the cables available to him to use as ammunition during the mark--up session.
which will begin Monday. , EA/DDO, will secure approval
and sanitize.
25. (Unclassified - FMC) Betty Crayton, OMB, called to "gig"
us on two bills which they have not received our comments on. She said
they need the Agency's comments on S. 495, a bill to establish certain
Federal agencies, and to effect and implement certain reforms in the
operation of the Federal Government as recommended by the Senate Select
Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities, no later than Tuesday,

to amend the Privacy Act of 1974, was due on. 8 June. was
advised of the call.

26. (Confidential - FMC) Charles E. Meissner, on the staff of the
Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Multinational Corporations, called
to cancel the previously arranged briefing for Monday, 14 July at 10:30 a. xn.
at Headquarters. Briefers OF it,
NIO, were advised that the briefing on Middle East oil would be scheduled
at a later date. Meissner said the best time and date for rescheduling the
briefing would be Friday, 18 July at 10:00 a. m. I told him I would give
Mr. Cary the message.
27. (Unclassified - FMC) Received a call. from John Simons, who
identified himself with the Gannett news service, and asked rr--e .for the first
name of a "Mr. Diamond who briefed the House Agriculture Committer on
Wednesday, 9 July, on sugar." I told Mr. Simons I did not know the individual
and transferred his call to Mr. Thuermer's office.
