Implications of Trends in World Population, Food Production and Climate."
-aDelivered a copy of the same publication to Kathy Smith, on the
staff of Senator Stuart Symington (D. , Mo. )
13. In response to his call, delivered
the transcript or the February 175 Director's testimony before the
Defense Subcommittee, House Appropriations Committee, to John Garrity,
who said that Representative Daniel J. Flood (D., Pa.) was interested in
seeing it.
14. Per arrangements made by Mr. Cary and
with the approva o e Director, delivered to Senator John C. Stennis
(D. , Miss. ), in his private office in the Capitol, a letter containing
certain up-dated information about a sensitive Agency project. .

to the Soviet Union as a result of numerous Senate changes in the timing of
the trip.
I mentioned to Goldberg that the Senate Armed Services Committee was
holding the transcripts of Mr. Colby's and Secretary Schlesinger's testimony
before the Arms Control Subcommittee pending Secretary Kissinger's appearance

17. Ed Braswell, Chief Counsel, Senate
Armed Services Committee, called and asked if we could give him some help
in preparing a press release for Chairman Stennis concerning the recent press
revelations. I referred him to the New York Times article and then he asked
when the funding began. I told him FY 1970 and that it had been before all our
Subcommittees and the funds approved by the Appropriations Subcommittees.
I said on his Committee only Senators Stennis and Thurmond had been informed.
18. Scott Cohen, in the office of Senator Charles
Percy, called concerning the stoning incident involving President Echeverra.a
of Mexico. He asked if the Senator could have a letter from us stating that we
had nothing to do with it. I suggested that a letter from the State Department
would be much better and made arrangements for this through
Chief, LA Division.
19. Frank Sullivan, Senate Armed Services
Committee staff, ca e to say enator Sam Nunn is interested in making a speech
about recent develo ments involving the Agency. He said Nunn lamented the
but added perhaps it is not a bad thing to have something
like this happen once in a while. Sullivan is pulling together a speech for Nunn
on what is happening to the intelligence community and asked for our assistance.
I told him I had mentioned to Nunn that Senator Stennis had asked for a similar
paper and I offered to make a copy available to Nunn also.

Agency had any connection with this company. )0 said the Army has come
to us and asked us to introduce their representative to the president of the
company. After some discussion, I asked if he would check with Mr. Blee
and see if we couldn't get out of this.
Later in the day, II called and said he did talk with Mr. Blee and
we would extricate ourselves.
Z1. Talked with Russ Rourke, White House staff,
and alerted him to about twenty pieces of legislation which .are before the
Kastenmeier Subcommittee of Courts, Civil Liberties and the Administration of
Justice of House Judiciary Committee, on the subject of surveillance. I said
we had a paper on this which I would send him. I thought the White House
should be aware of this legislation.
