(Unclassified - CMW) Received a call from'Dorothy Hertz, of Representative Donald M. Fraser's (D., Minn.) office. She stated that they had received several requests from constituents for information as to whether CIA had files on them. I gave her the name and address of the FOIA Coordinator and suggested that she have them write directly to him. 2. (Internal Use Only - RJK) Delivered to the office of Senator Claiborne Pell (D. , R. I. ), an Agency response to his inquiry concerning Sam Adams. 3. (Internal Use Only - RJK) Delivered a letter from the Director Veo Senator Birch Bayh (D., Ind.), commenting on his bill, S. 1841, which would prohibit the use of polygraphs. 4. (Internal Use Only - RJK) Met with the receptionist, on the staff of the Joint Economic Committee, and left with her the transcript of the briefing held 18 June 1975 before Senator William Proxmire's (D., Wisc.) Subcommittee on Priorities and Economy in Government. Richard Kaufman, General Counsel, had requested it. 5. (Internal Use Only - RJK) Met with Ron Tammen, on Senator William Proxmire's (D. , Wisc.) staff, and gave him an unclassified statement drawn from Mr. Duckett's testimony before the Senator's Subcommittee on HUD and Independent Agencies, Senate Appropriations Committee, of 4 June. Tammen said a committee print would be prepared using this statement and other information which he would ask the Agency to review. He also asked if he could include page-size reprints of the unclassified charts Mr. Duckett used in the briefing. DDS&T has been advised. 6. (Secret - RJK) Met with Charles Snodgrass, on the staff of the Defense Subcommittee, House Appropriations Committee, and provided him with the following documents prepared by the Office of Comptroller- Responses to questions from the briefing of 11 June 1975,"CIA Research and Develop- ment" and DDO Special Activities. Snodgrass prepared the necessary document receipts. (Unclassified - RJK) Spoke with Kent Hughes, Congressional Research Service, Library of Congress, and told him in response to his earlier request, that I would be sending him a paper on statistics relating to the volume of trade between North Korea and Japan. 8. (Internal Use Only - PLC) Mike Cavanagh, Staff Assistant, House Post Office and Civil Service Subcommittee on Postal Facilities, Mail, and Labor Management, called on behalf of Chairman Charles H. .Wilson (D. , Calif. ), expressing concern that the Director was appearing on Wednesday, 25 June 1975, before the House Government Operations Subcommittee on Government Information and Individual Rights, since his Subcommittee had been negotiating for several weeks for the Director to testify on the mail survey program and would have wanted that time for themselves. After explaining the circumstances of Chairwoman Bella S. Abzug's (D. , N. Y.) request, Cavanagh felt sure that Chairman Wilson would understand. He asked if either 9 or 10 July would be acceptable. I said I would check it out and call him back. 9. (Confidential - PLC) Tom Smeeton, on the staff of the House International Relations Committee, called and asked if our comments A on epresentative William S. $roomfield's (R.', Mich. ) draft bill to tablish a select committee on intelligence was ready. I later called him back and said the material had been sent via courier earlier this morning. 10. (Internal Use Only - FMC) Per a call from Noel Daoust, on the staff of the House International Relations Committee, made arrangements for the OCI courier to deliver to Marian Czarnecki, Chief of Staff on the Committee, the 11 June 1975 transcript of the Director's testimony before the Oversight Subcommittee of the House International Relations Committee, The courier returned the transcript on this date as well. (Before the transcript was delivered, Mr. Gary was advised of the request. ) 11. (Unclassified - LLM) Chuck Snodgrass, House Appropriations mittee staff, called on the status of the appropriations language that had promised him.
