MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Security
1. I think i had mentioned that Howard Hunt had raised
a question of changing his election on his retirement annuity.
The attached correspondence sets forth the problem and our
response. It does show that much of a connection between Mr.
Hunt and the Agency during this time, but it also confirms that
he was fully retired and we were not utilizing him except for the
time he assisted in writing a National Civil Service League award
recommendation> as the details on this last
utilization of him.
2. I note that in the 21 June story in The New York Times
Mr. Ziegler is quoted as saying that Mr. Hunt has not been
involved in a consultant capacity with the White House since
March. However, his letter to me of May 5th is on White House
stationery. This correspondence is presumably in Mr. Hunt's
personal possession.
