NPIC Holdings in Records Center for period
1972 - 1977
This memorandum is in reference to your memo to C/SSS dated
21 January 1972 and the attached statistics received from the
Senior HMO for the Intelligence Directorate dated 2 May 1972.
Based on a comparison of the projected volumes of records to
be sent to Records Center with the anticipated destructions, it
appears that the net balance of EPIC holdings in the Records Center
coupled with the same activity for other offices in the Intelligence
Directorate should not pose any threat to the 1,000 cubic foot annual
limitation.
From a review of the projections of activity between 1972 and 1977,
it appears that the DDI area will be 2,697 cubic feet under its
allocated limitation. However, because the memo fr states
that only NPIC film deposits have been considered it wou a precarious
for us to assume that this net balance will be met.
Until we receive an estimate of the volume of NPIC documents
(paper records) to be deposited and their anticipated destruction rate
it will be impossible for us to perform an effective evaluation of the
DDI holdings in the Records Center.
It is hoped that this information can be obtained as the NPIC
annual inventory is being compiled and the revised Records Control
Schedule is being developed.
