SUBJECT: Recurrence of Rumors of Resignation of
U Nu, Burme se Prime Minister
1. Since early January there have been rumors that the
Burmese Socialist Party (BSP) plans to replace U Nu as Prime
Minister after the elections which took place at the end of April.
Such rumors have appeared in the past without any change taking
place in the government of Burma. However, the current reports
seem to have a somewhat more solid basis. Hence this brief, to
call your attention to the possibility that suc$ a change could be
in the making.
