according to Pravda of 18 September.

2. The contents of the second issue of the journal,
which came out surprisingly soon after the first,, appear
to be similar in character and scope,' The lead editorial
(which was carried in full in L'Humanite, 16 September)
markedly intensifies the campaign against D. e..Goulle ? s
Government as "not yet fascia", but as opening the road
to fascism, and the editorial gives the stamp of approval
to the line of the French CPS,

-3. It is also worth noting that the second issue contains
an article by an unavowed, but probably secret Communist,
Khaled Mukhi ed-Din, who was elected to the World Peace
Council in July and was a leading. figure in the Egyptian
delegation to the Afro-Asian Solidarity Conference in
December 1957. The inclusion of this article suggests
that future issues of the journal. will also contain contri-
butions from "non-Communists. "
4 Despite some possibly significant omissions (e, g. ,
India, Brazil, Netherlands, Denmark, Greece) the range
of coverage of the second issue, like the first, ' is impressive.
Judging from the table of contents, the second issue of
the journal continues the emphasis of the first issue on
the main lines of the current international strategy: "peace"
campaign and hate-America, "national liberation", anti-
"revisionism", and united front tactics.
5.. Evidently, the Editorial, Board had already obtained
and processed sufficient material for the second number while
the first was being issued. There is internal evidence that
the Editorial in the second issue was prepared prior to
5 September. There is no evidence as yet of the appearance
of an Italian language version, which was promised for the
October issue (i, e. , the second issuer. The Japanese Party,
however, has announced that it will publish a Japanese edition,
thereby raising the list of scheduled language editions to seven-
teen
