All units which are currently listed for scrap or other disposal
have been removed from the following tables. since. no future combat use
is contemplated for these units. In addition, certain other units which
have been practically demilitarized or whose combat value is obviously
nil - such as many of those units which have.been assigned to ship target
trials - have been deleted.
ABBREVIATIONS
BB - Battleships CL -Light Cruiser (6 in.)
CV - Fleet Carrier DD - Destroyer
CVL - Light Fleet Carrier PF - Frigate (escorts of all types)
CA - Heavy Cruiser (S in.) SS - Submarines
FC - Full peacetime complement.
SC - Special complement - varies. May be as low as 2/5 of Full Complement,
as in case of training battleships or nearly equal to full complement,
as in case of destroyers and escorts, Special complement ships are
ordinarily engaged in specialized assignments.
NO - Non-operational for reasons of refit, repair, etc.
RES - Ships in the various RESERVE categories.
