TURKISH NAVY -- STATUS
1. The Turkish Navy continues to undergo than;e due to
the ship acquisitions,frori the United :Mates under
the Aid to Turkey program. Personnel are being
allocated to man these shi ps and submarines, and
due to the necessity of establishinL, training pro-
grams, it is difficult to assess present effective-
ness frorf the fleet standpoint. the to the above
factors, it is not possible to accurately firseas
the Turkish Navy at this particular time, in the
manner that is followed in the case of Western
European navies.
2. The material condition and status of ships In the
Turkish Navy as of September 1948 is as follows:
